About Lynden Radio

Broadcasting classic rock and great music from the heart of Lynden, Washington since 2025.

Our Story

Lynden Radio was founded in early 2025 with a simple mission: to bring quality classic rock programming to the beautiful community of Lynden, Washington and beyond. What started as a passion project quickly blossomed into a cherished community resource that connects listeners through the universal language of music.

Born from our founder's decades of experience in both radio broadcasting and technology development, Lynden Radio combines old-school radio values with modern digital innovation. We believe that radio remains a powerful medium that brings communities together, creates shared experiences, and serves as the soundtrack to our daily lives.

As an independent station, we have the freedom to curate our playlists with care and precision, focusing on the music we love and that resonates with our community. We're not just playing songs—we're preserving musical heritage and introducing new generations to the timeless classics of rock.

Lynden Radio Studio
"Radio connects us in ways that digital playlists can't. It creates a shared experience where listeners tune in together, creating a community united by the music playing at that very moment."

Meet the Founder

David St. John - Founder & Director

David St. John, the founder and director of Lynden Radio, brings over two decades of experience in both radio broadcasting and enterprise technology to the station. His journey in radio began in 2001 with the launch of MediaCast1, one of the early pioneers in internet radio streaming when the technology was still in its infancy.

Following his work with MediaCast1, David co-founded CasterClub, a platform that helped independent broadcasters find their voice online. His technical expertise and passion for radio continued to grow as he worked with various broadcasting platforms and technologies throughout the 2000s and 2010s.

In his professional career, David has brought his technical expertise to organizations like MapQuest and Verizon, where he served as a DevOps engineer, focusing on backend infrastructure and business process optimization. This enterprise-level experience provided him with unique insights into managing complex systems and delivering reliable services at scale.

When Joel Allen Platfoot, the founder of Generation Rock Radio, passed away, David stepped in to preserve Joel's legacy. Taking over Generation Rock Radio was a pivotal moment that eventually led to the creation of Lynden Radio, combining David's technical background with his passion for classic rock and community-focused broadcasting.
